Mojo description
Mojo is now in its final weeks – Must End 8 February! Don’t leave it until it's too late – book now for an extraordinary new production of this modern classic.
Rupert Grint and Ben Whishaw star in the first major revival of the play which dazzled London at the Royal Court prior to a sell-out West End run in 1996, for which it won the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy.
Mojo reunites two of British theatre's great collaborators, writer Jez Butterworth and director Ian Rickson who, as well as the original production of Mojo, gave us the multi award-winning, West End and Broadway hit Jerusalem and the critically acclaimed The River. Rickson returns to Mojo fresh from successes with Old Times and Betrayal.
This fast-paced, savagely funny play centres on gangsterly goings-on in Soho's sleazy Atlantic Club. It's summer 1958. Would-be rock 'n' roll star Silver Johnny is heading fameward, and his manager Ezra, who also owns the Atlantic Club, is protecting his protégé from the amorous advances of creepy local gangster/entrepreneur Sam Ross.
Unfortunately for Ezra, Ross has determined that the only way to remove the opposition involves sawing Ezra in half, kidnapping Silver Johnny and throwing the fate of the Atlantic Club to the lions.
