Danse Élargie - Dance Expanded description

Started in 2010 by French choreographer Boris Charmatz, theatre director Emmanuel Demarcy Mota and Fondation d’entreprise Hermès, Danse Élargie takes place over a gruelling two-day marathon at the acclaimed Théâtre de la Ville.

Open to all disciplines, and with just two restrictions, the bi-annual contest is a competition like no other. To enter, the work must include at least three performers and come in at under ten minutes.

Sadler’s Wells now plays host to the three 2018 winners, Elsa Chêne’s playfully sinister MUR/MER, the cinematic Family Honour from former Wild Card curator Kwame Asafo-Adjei and Ousmane Sy’s female-driven Queen Blood, alongside a pick of the finalists, including a 2016 edition winner, (LA) HORDE, with their jumpstyle To Da Bone, Jusung Lee’s Eye, Clémentine Vanlerberghe’s and Fabritia D’Intino’s Plubel and Pietro Marullo’s Wreck – List of extinct species.
