Beijing Dance Theatre - Haze description
Beijing Dance Theater has built an impressive reputation for collaborating with leading dance artists and cultivating dance and the arts in China since being established by choreographer Wang Yuanyuan and visual artists Han Jiang and Tan Shaoyuan in 2008. In just three years they have created a rich repertoire that brings together traditional elements of Chinese culture and dance with ballet.

They make their first appearance at Sadler's Wells with Haze, choreographed by Wang Yuanyuan as a creative response to the economic and environmental crises of early 2009. Wang Yuanyuan is one of the most sought-after choreographers to emerge from China in recent years having served as resident choreographer for the National Ballet of China and guest choreographer for New York City Ballet.

Performed by 19 dancers, Haze is set to Henryk Gorecki's Symphony No. 3 (Symphony of Sorrowful Songs) and the ambient electronic music of Biosphere.
